Job Description

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking a Property Accountant to join our well established Property Management client's growing accounting team. This is a temporary to hire position and is fully onsite. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting and a detail-oriented approach. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial management and supporting property operations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate rent and security deposit adjustments to tenants and update the accounting system promptly.
  • Issue late fees for overdue rent and follow up to ensure all outstanding charges are collected.
  • Generate aging reports during each payables cycle for review.
  • Ensure accurate posting of rent charges and expense bill-backs in tenant ledgers.
  • Enter bills and credit card transactions with proper documentation into the accounting system.
  • Follow up with vendors regarding uncleared payments.
  • Prepare payables reports and supporting documentation for review.
  • Obtain approvals for invoices and ensure timely processing of recurring bills.
  • Post payments, cut checks, obtain signatures, and mail checks as needed.
  • Prepare annual CAM reconciliations and issue billing or credits to tenants.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts monthly.
  • Generate monthly property financials, ensuring accuracy of accruals and balance sheets.
  • Assist with journal entries for third-party management financials.
  • Collaborate with property managers to prepare annual budgets
  • Prepare and file 1099s

Education: Degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience: 2+ years in accounting; experience in real estate or property management is a plus.

Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Yardi
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Highly organized, proactive, and able to work independently.
    • Strong interpersonal skills
